Please read carefully. By creating an account or using CampusDec, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. Eligibility
CampusDec is a student marketplace designed exclusively for Nigerian university students and young adults. By registering, you confirm that:
- You are at least 16 years of age.
- You are a current or recently graduated Nigerian university student, or a young adult associated with a Nigerian campus community.
- The information you provide is accurate and truthful.
- You will maintain only one account on the platform.
2. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your password or allow others to access your account. CampusDec will never ask for your password via chat, email, or phone call.
3. Platform Use
CampusDec is a marketplace platform — we facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers but are not a party to any transaction. We do not manufacture, own, or warehouse any items sold on the platform. All transactions are between individual users.
4. Fees and Commission
CampusDec charges a 10% platform commission on every completed sale, deducted automatically from the seller's payout. This commission covers payment processing, escrow management, dispute resolution, and platform operations. There are no listing fees or subscription charges.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the CampusDec platform — including the logo, design, software, and written content — is the intellectual property of CampusDec. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission. You retain ownership of photos and descriptions you upload for your listings.
6. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these terms, without prior notice. This includes but is not limited to fraud, scamming, selling prohibited items, or repeated policy violations. Users who are banned forfeit any pending payouts under investigation.
7. Limitation of Liability
CampusDec is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our maximum liability to you for any claim is limited to the transaction amount directly involved in the dispute. We are not responsible for items lost or damaged outside of CampusDec Delivery.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
🔒 All CampusDec transactions use escrow by default. Your payment is never sent directly to a seller — it is held securely and only released when you confirm receipt.
How Escrow Works
- Buyer pays — funds go into CampusDec Escrow, not to the seller.
- Seller is notified — the seller sees the order and arranges delivery.
- Item is delivered — the buyer receives the item and inspects it.
- Buyer confirms — once satisfied, the buyer clicks "Release Payment" in the order page.
- Seller receives payout — funds (minus 10% commission) are transferred to the seller within 24–48 hours.
Automatic Escrow Release
If the buyer does not confirm delivery or raise a dispute within 48 hours of the order being marked as Delivered, the escrow is automatically released to the seller. This prevents sellers from being held up by unresponsive buyers.
Dispute Window
Buyers have a 24-hour window after the order is marked as Delivered to raise a dispute. After this window closes and no dispute is raised, the escrow is released automatically and cannot be reversed.
Important: Never release escrow before physically receiving and inspecting your item. Once released, the transaction cannot be reversed unless the seller voluntarily agrees to a refund.
Seller Payout Timeline
| Event | Payout Trigger | Processing Time |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer confirms delivery | Immediate | 24–48 hours |
| Auto-release (48h after delivery, no action) | Automatic | 24–48 hours |
| Dispute resolved in seller's favour | Admin action | 24–48 hours |
What Escrow Does Not Cover
- Items damaged by the buyer after confirmed receipt.
- Buyer's change of mind after confirming delivery.
- Transactions completed outside the CampusDec platform.
Seller Account Requirements
To become a seller on CampusDec, you must:
- Have a verified buyer account first.
- Submit a seller application with accurate personal and bank account details.
- Receive approval from the CampusDec admin team (usually within 24–48 hours).
- Maintain good standing — no outstanding fraud reports or serious disputes.
Listing Requirements
Every listing must include:
- At least three clear photo of the actual item (stock photos are not permitted).
- An accurate title and honest description of the item's condition.
- The correct condition (Brand New, Good Condition, or Fairly Used).
- A fixed price — price negotiation is not permitted on CampusDec.
- Your delivery coverage area if you offer seller delivery.
All listings are reviewed by our admin team before going live. We reserve the right to reject listings that are inaccurate, misleading, or in violation of our prohibited items policy.
Seller Obligations After a Sale
- Respond to the buyer in chat within 12 hours of receiving an order notification.
- Deliver the item within the timeframe agreed upon in chat, or within 48 hours if no timeframe was agreed.
- Ensure the item matches the description, photos, and condition stated in the listing.
- If a dispute is raised, respond with your explanation within 12 hours.
Seller Commission
CampusDec deducts a 10% platform commission from the item price (not including delivery fee) on every completed order. For example, if you sell an item for ₦10,000, your payout is ₦9,000.
Payout Method
Payouts are sent to the bank account you provided during seller onboarding. Ensure your account details are accurate — CampusDec is not responsible for payouts sent to incorrect bank accounts provided by sellers.
Seller Penalties
- Failing to deliver after receiving payment: account suspension and full refund to buyer.
- Misrepresenting item condition or description: listing removed, warning issued.
- Three upheld disputes: automatic seller account suspension pending review.
- Fraud or scamming: permanent ban and potential legal action.
Buyer Rights
- Your payment is always protected by escrow — you never pay a seller directly.
- You have a 24-hour dispute window after delivery to report any problems.
- You are entitled to a full refund if the item is not delivered or does not match the description.
- All prices are fixed — no seller can pressure you to pay more than the listed price.
Buyer Obligations
- Proceed to checkout only when genuinely intending to complete the purchase.
- Inspect the item promptly upon delivery — do not wait days to raise concerns.
- Only release escrow after you are satisfied with the item received.
- Communicate respectfully with sellers in the chat.
- Do not attempt to transact outside the CampusDec platform to avoid fees.
Off-Platform Transactions
Warning: If a seller asks you to pay via bank transfer, cash, or any method outside CampusDec checkout, do not proceed. These transactions are not covered by escrow and CampusDec cannot recover your money if something goes wrong. Report the seller to us immediately.
Order Cancellation by Buyer
Buyers may cancel an order before the seller confirms it is ready for delivery (before status changes to "Out for Delivery"). Once the item is out for delivery, cancellation is only possible through a dispute. Cancellations for valid reasons (seller unresponsive, wrong item) will result in a full refund.
When You Are Entitled to a Full Refund
- The seller fails to deliver the item within 72 hours of the order being placed, with no communication.
- The item delivered is significantly different from what was described or photographed.
- The item is damaged, broken, or non-functional on arrival.
- The seller cancels the order after payment.
- A dispute is raised and resolved in the buyer's favour by admin.
When Refunds Are Not Issued
- The buyer changes their mind after receiving the item in the described condition.
- The buyer releases escrow voluntarily and then requests a refund — once released, payment cannot be recovered without seller consent.
- The buyer's dispute is raised outside the 24-hour window after delivery.
- The item matches the description but the buyer had different personal expectations.
- Transactions completed outside the CampusDec platform.
Refund Processing Time
| Refund Scenario | Processing Time |
|---|---|
| Dispute resolved by admin — full refund | 1–3 business days |
| Order cancelled before dispatch | 1–2 business days |
| Automatic refund (seller unresponsive) | 2–5 business days |
| Paystack card refund to card | 5–10 business days (bank-dependent) |
| Cash agent payment refund | 2–5 business days via bank transfer |
Partial Refunds
In some dispute cases, an admin may award a partial refund — for example, if an item arrived with minor damage not severe enough to warrant a full refund. The admin's decision is final and binding on both parties.
Delivery Fee Refunds
Delivery fees are refunded only if the seller fails to dispatch the item at all. If the item was dispatched but the buyer refuses delivery or raises a dispute on grounds other than non-delivery, the delivery fee may not be refunded depending on the admin's ruling.
When to Raise a Dispute
Raise a dispute only for genuine problems:
- Item not received despite the seller marking it delivered.
- Item significantly not as described (wrong model, different colour, different item entirely).
- Item arrived damaged or broken.
- Seller is completely unresponsive after payment.
The Dispute Process
- Buyer raises dispute — within 24 hours of delivery via the order page.
- Seller is notified — the seller has 12 hours to submit their response.
- Admin review — our team reviews all evidence (messages, photos, order history) within 24 hours.
- Admin ruling — the admin issues a final ruling: full refund, partial refund, or release to seller.
- Escrow acted upon — funds are moved according to the ruling.
Evidence Guidelines
When raising or responding to a dispute, provide as much evidence as possible:
- Photos of the item received (or evidence of non-delivery).
- Screenshots of any relevant chat messages.
- A clear written description of the problem.
Admin Ruling is Final
The CampusDec admin's decision on disputes is final and binding. We do not accept appeals for disputes that have already been resolved. If you believe there was a procedural error, contact us at disputes@campusdec.com within 48 hours of the ruling.
Tip: Most disputes can be resolved directly in chat before escalating. Try communicating with the other party first — many issues are resolved faster this way.
Zero Tolerance: Listing prohibited items will result in immediate account suspension. Repeated violations may lead to permanent bans and reporting to relevant authorities.

- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives of any kind.
